1959 Goggomobil T400 Limo

I had a very exciting and exhausting weekend. I purchased a 1959 Goggomobil T400 with 7000 original miles. The car was located about 900 miles away. I drove 14 hours on Saturday, picked the car up on Sunday morning, and drove 14 hours straight back to KC. The trip was full of drama, trailer problems, bad weather, road construction delays, but I made it back and the Goggo is safely tucked in its new home. The car is very low milage. The body is excellent, virtually no rust anywhere on this car. The engine is partially disassembled and will need rebuilt, and the interior is rough but complete. I have my parts catalog ordered from Uwe Staufenberg, and can't wait to start the restoration of this gorgeous little Goggomobil.

  1. What a find! I noticed the larger protruding headlights your car has. I have seen this variant before and I'm guessing it is very rare. Is yours a US export version? How exciting to have the 400 motor too. Zoom zoom zoom.

  2. This Goggo is a US export version which included the larger 7" headlights, oil injection, tubular nerf bars in addition to the standard bumpers, pre-select transmission, and the 400cc motor.

  4. It's not the original paint. There was an attempt to restore this car in the late 80's early 90's. It had some dents in the front repaired, a respray, and the bumpers re-chromed.

  5. The speedometer goes to 80 - that seems pretty ambitious!

  6. Well Tex, it is the US spec version with 400cc of raw two stroke power, not one of those wimpy Euro 250 or 300cc versions that can probably barely hit 55mph.
